Kicking off the night, Venus and Ginger’s melodic singing and downtempo bass tracks were the ideal way to start the evening of music. While I only caught the tail end of the performance, the two’s soothing songs were a welcoming wave of energy and set the vibes appropriately as the sold-out venue began to fill. […]

Marking his first release of 2018 out on Armada, Rob Garza has slipped a new single from out of the archives to prepare fans for his upcoming EP, Dissolve. ‘Dobruja’ is sultry, dark, and immediately addicting. Distant chanting adds an air of mystique to the track, and the moody bassline drives it all home. A […]

There are a lot of artists putting in work to be heard in the music scene, and it’s difficult to stand out amongst the rest. For Cofresi, a Chicago drummer and producer, he’s found a perfect spotlight when he began recording his live drumming remixes. With some of these videos gaining millions of views, it’s […]

This weeks’ Re:Search gave a healthy serving of my favorite style of bass – the hip-hop influenced west coast variety, of course. I’ve loved Gladkill for years and through some bullshit twist of fate, I’ve missed dozens of his shows since becoming hooked during a Wakarusa set in 2014. Like star crossed lovers, three years […]

Lovable funk band BoomBox are officially in Denver, Colorado for their three night run at the Gothic Theater, and we’re more than ecstatic to be joining the ride. Since Boombox collaborator Russ Randolph parted ways, we’ve already fallen head first in love with the new tunes. Two tracks released this year, ‘Right Around Two’, and […]

Festival Coverage
Through a series of synchronicities, I ended up at the Emerald Cup in a working capacity. Offered a gig with Meadow MD by a friend, I was in charge of wristbanding all attendees with Proposition 215 credentials.

Exmag have always been favorites of mine, and when I stumbled on a show flier while traveling in San Francisco last week, I was ecstatic to catch them one more time before the new year. Always forging ahead with fresh musical styles, Exmag are one of the most creative bands on the circuit, and it […]
