Being newly introduced to the music of Break Science and Manic Focus entirely, I was oblivious to the innovative and raw talent that was soon to consume my night. As soon as I approached the venue, there was a unique energy that flourished from the crowd that easily fed into my anticipation. Walking through the doors to […]

Though we’re always first to pack up and head to a music festival at the drop of a hat, we’ll also be the first to admit that it can be disheartening seeing the same tired headliners grace lineups, flier after flier. You can never see your favorite artist too many times. But wouldn’t you rather attend a […]

Most recently, 1Up’s stage was graced by the likes of electro-soul producer Barrett Richards, better known as Kastle, and Tasmian-born hip hop producer Ryan Farrington, also known as Akouo. […]

There are fewer names that garner all around admiration and respect such as Afrika Bambaataa. Heralded as one of hip hop/break beat culture’s most influential forces, Afrika Bambaataa was one of the original turntablists who paved the way for many hip hop producers to come. He is widely renowned as ‘the Godfather’, and the father […]

Northern Nights was incredible, and everyone including myself were blown away by the execution and atmosphere at this 2nd year Northern California Festival. Usually at a typical music festival, I end up halfway through the weekend longing for the basic comforts of life as I trudge my way through an endless expanse of blistering sunshine and sprawling campsites; […]

Because the CYM crew is so stoked to be all up in the Redwoods in a few weeks, I thought I’d compile a list of what Northern Nights offers that you can’t find at most other music festival on planet earth. Hopefully this will give you a better idea of why you should ALL make it […]

To say the magic of an organic festival scene was alive and well atop Mulberry Mountain would be a severe understatement, as the weekend I spent at this year’s Wakarusa Music Festival felt as though an entire alternate universe had opened up; the land almost beams with remnants from a past time. Wakarusa successfully embodied […]
