It had been less than 24 hours in LA and I was already kicking off the day’s activities by signing a waiver. In order to join the Billie Eilish Experience, I’d need to complete a waiver with Spotify to reserve my attendance. The waiver asked commonplace things, like if I had any sensitivity to lights […]

With some of the largest music conferences occurring in March (SXSW in Austin, Texas and Winter Music Conference in Miami, FL) there always seems to be a surplus of fresh […]

2018 has seen its share of artists gone too soon, but that doesn’t keep people from around the world coming together to celebrate and reminisce on legacies left behind. One of music’s latest losses was rapper Mac Miller, who died just last month from a tragic drug overdose. Though he led a successful life and […]

There’s less than a month before a couple hundred magical souls gather for the West Coast’s best-kept secret: Emissions, where the underground bass music community comes together for four days of 808 hits and the heaviest, stankiest bass you could possibly imagine. A journey far into the mountains leads you to the wildest town on […]

As a chilly wind blew off the Bay, hundreds of people gathered at The Armory in San Francisco to see the sensational Erykah Badu. It was Valentine’s Day, and I arrived at The Armory while Thundercat was in mid-set, clad in all pink from head to toe. He was blowing minds with his intricate and […]

“What…what the fuck are we doing out here in the middle of the goddamn desert?” —Dr. Gonzo Every time I go out to the desert I can’t help but think of the opening scene of Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, where Raoul Duke and Dr. Gonzo are tripping out on acid in the […]

I’ve covered many events at the Nectar Lounge, but never have I seen the venue so packed than the night Minnesota came through. A sea of people poured out of the venue into the outdoor patio, and each of the many times I tried to visit the spacious viewing balcony above, a mild-mannered bouncer turned […]

Through a series of synchronicities, I ended up at the Emerald Cup in a working capacity. Offered a gig with Meadow MD by a friend, I was in charge of wristbanding all attendees with Proposition 215 credentials.

Exmag have always been favorites of mine, and when I stumbled on a show flier while traveling in San Francisco last week, I was ecstatic to catch them one more time before the new year. Always forging ahead with fresh musical styles, Exmag are one of the most creative bands on the circuit, and it […]
