Electronic
San Antonio isn’t the most electronic music-oriented city in the States. In a city defined by rodeos, country music dance halls, and a sports team named after a boot accessory, you would be hard pressed to find an electronic anything here – unless there was a guitar connected. Needless to say when I […]

A collaborative perspective piece from Cait Falc (CF) and Chloe Casey (CC). All photos by Cait Falc. When Maddy O’Neal initially came to me with the idea of going on tour with her, Chloe Casey, and the Lettuce team, I had no idea what to expect. I had never been on the road until now, not […]

Last night I ventured up to Boulder to hit the Fox Theater for a show by one of my favorites, Badbadnotgood. The 4 piece band have always had a loyal following since their start, but it seems more and more people are getting hooked on the beauty they create. Fusing hip-hop flavors, dark guitar riffs and […]

It’s the month of Halloween, and the 13th just happens to land perfectly on a Friday. How’s that for a spooky treat? For Houstonites, this month’s Friday-the-Thirteenth delivers two perfect acts to balance all things superstitious and unlucky! Australian act Rufus du Sol is coming back three years after their first album with a fuller, […]

I went down to Cervantes this past Wednesday to see Um.., Ganz, Jaw Gems and Adam Deitch. In the end it turned out to be a whole lot more than just these acts, and that’s to be expected from Re:Search Wednesdays at Cervantes. Often hosting special guests and regulars such as GRiZ and Borahm Lee, […]

Sampa The Great is a force of nature. She’s got charged and fiery lyrics, an earthly groundedness that denotes maturity and a true sense of self. Since Sampa Tembo dropped The Great Mixtape in 2015 off of Wondercore Island Records, she has gained the attention of bands like future soul pioneers Hiatus Kaiyote (she […]

Denver was truly blessed this past Thursday with the most anticipated and sexiest show of the year. One of the most talented musicians to date, the master himself, Jade Cicada brought his Swarm Tour to one of the most underground venues in Colorado. The Black Box has continued to bring the best of the electronic […]

Brooklyn Comes Alive refueled the soul last weekend with two full days of epic jams. Hosted by venues The Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brooklyn Bowl and Schimanski, an additional day of music this year filled the weekend with rare levels of collaboration and improvisation. Seeing musical legends John Scofield, George Porter Jr., and Bernard Purdie so […]

I chatted with DJ Abilities after his last tour about new projects, his evolving style, and his secrets to success. It has been seven years since Eyedea’s abrupt death and Abilities has been hard at work: DJing for Atmosphere and Aesop Rock and touring his own music. He is set to finish his first solo record later this […]
