ZELLA DAY: Prepare to fall into a hazy love when giving singer-songwriter Zella Day a listen. With a voice made of honey, she creates pop tracks that are soft as silk and lovingly layered with guitars, tambourines and drum synths. While her audience is still mostly underground, her appearance at this year’s BUKU should propel […]

With New Music Monday in full effect over at CYM, it comes as a very nice surprise to see that Gramatik, the electro funk lovin’ pioneer, has dropped a most fitting announcement of North American tour dates for 2015! Noticeably showin’ love to places he skipped out in his last ‘Leave Your Mark’ tour […]

As we made our descent upon the old desert town of Tucson, Lauren and I were riddled with uncontainable excitement. Though it’d be my second year of the festival and Lauren’s first, our levels on the stoked factor were just as equally off the charts. After 12 hours of driving, the sight of a landscape […]

It seems to make more and more sense to us that Arizona is the perfect place to kick off festival season proper. After covering Gem and Jam Festival earlier this February, there’s another AZ fest that is calling our names to return to the desert. Taking place in downtown Phoenix, McDowell Mountain Music Festival is […]

Since settling into my new home of Denver nearly six months ago, I’ve gotten to know our city well when it comes to the musical delicacies that grace our venues night after night. But Funk the Cold was a break from the norm, a whole ‘nother animal that thrived on alcoholic sno-cones, outstanding costumes and […]

Who are the Imagine Nation, you ask? They are a band of dreamers and do-gooders. A band of people who are hard working, passionate, and forever waltzing with their heads above the clouds, inspiring, creating, and always celebrating the perils and successes of life. The Imagine Nation are unlike anyone we know, because they are […]

The beauty that is known as Art Outside was held last month from October 24-27th just outside of my unofficial, but beloved home of Austin, Texas. With 2014 commemorating the homegrown festivals’ 10th year anniversary, I was more than excited to see just how my favorite gathering planned to celebrate. Although this year’s AO would […]

Although Bluebird Theater’s stage held only Slow Magic, a laptop and his ominously glowing drum set, the crowd that was swiftly packing itself into the venue on Thursday night was fueled by a rush of adrenaline, anxiety and excitement for what was in store. Having recently discovered Slow Magic through a mutual friend, I had […]

Although it were a massive, sold out crowd that was beginning to fill the majestic walls of Fox Theater last Thursday, you wouldn’t be able to tell. Radically different from the usual chaotic masses at most concerts, the docility of your average Tycho fan most closely resembles a happily grazing cow – cooperative and content, focused only on […]

Fresh off the release of their latest mix tape, Funk The World 26, the guys who make up Fort Knox Five have been consistently crushing the dance party music scene since their formation nearly a decade ago, and have yet to show any signs of slowing down when reflecting upon the productive summer these guys […]
