Wow, The Motet! From gracing the stage at Cervantes to selling out Red Rocks and even bringing their funk all around the world, it really doesn’t matter where The Motet plays, because it’s always a dance party. Their style is uniquely their own, with roots in Funk, Disco, Jazz and Soul. They draw in an exciting crowd and it’s always a good time to see so many people dancing and smiling.
This Friday, The Motet did something special by bringing out one of The Motet’s founding members, Scotty Messersmith. Scotty joined the stage and it was clear that his presence and performance was loved by all!
A Colorado home grown band, The Motet went all out to give their fans a fantastic live experience! Vocalist Jan Ingber brings heart to the band with his beautiful voice – it really touches that sweet spot inside your soul.
The Motet’s opening act gave an incredible performance as well, and made me a new fan. I was blown away by California Honeydrops! They throw a party with their Southern soul, Delta Blues and Funk. The sax, percussion, drums, guitar, bass and keys have no choice but to make for a good time. They really surprised me when they brought out uncommon instruments as well, such as a washboard. California Honeydrops love to get the crowd involved too, even taking requests to make it more of a party.
In addition to the talent, this sold out performance couldn’t have asked for a better location. The single stage Mishawaka Amphitheatre venue has an iconic riverfront view, making for a breathtaking sight every time. Smiles, good energy and vibes never left the grounds.
Our Colorado music scene never fails!
