Known for their unconventional sound and humorous titles, experimental hardcore band I Set My Friends On Fire electrified their fans with the release of a new track from their latest album, Caterpiller Sex, which still has a mystery date of when it’ll be available to the public. I Set My Friends On Fire posted a Facebook status back in February of last year hinting that the eclectic, genre-mashing repertoire of the band was alive and well, and would be unlike anything they’d ever produced before. Produced by co-founder Matt Mehana, the bands’ newest single, ‘Nobody Wants To Be Parrot Man’ absolutely delivers.
Never straying from the bands’ willingness to experiment with a multitude of musical styles, the dynamic of this track leaves you with the urge to bounce. I found this single to possess a unique vibe that leaves the listener with an overall sense of bewilderment and the urge to hear more. I believe the amount of distortion, auto tuned vocals, clashing tempos and savage breakdowns haven’t set well with some I Set My Friends On Fire followers. The band seems to be taking a new direction, however, electronica influences layered with screaming vocals, humorous themes, and satirical lyrics is nothing short of what to expect from ISMFOF.
