Gather up, Hulagans! Suwannee Hulaween music festival makes its return on Thursday, October 27th through Sunday October 30th. For those who don’t know, Hulaween has absolutely been the place to be on Halloween weekend for the past 9 years. With this year’s “Horror-Disco” theme and an average attendance of 20,000 people, there is sure to be an abundance of good vibes, killer art, and funky-freaky costumes. There’s no better pre-party for the spookiest night of the year!

Spirit of Suwannee Music Park is one of the best places for a camping festival. The beautiful 800-acre venue, dubbed a “camping resort,” is full of beautiful forest and sits on the banks of the Suwannee River in Live Oak, Florida.

Since 2013, The String Cheese Incident has hosted the end-of-October event. The beloved and established Colorado-based psychedelic, six-peice jam band with heavy bluegrass and rock influences has been playing since their formation in the early 90’s. Their official website even notes that they were “among the first artists to disseminate information via the internet, such as tour dates, release information, and other news, to their growing fan base.”

Aside from the double-digit hours of SCI, this year’s lineup features major headliners such as Louis the Child, Portugal the Man, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, and Rainbow Kitten Surprise. We are also super excited to see some great electronica names such as Two Feet, Opiuo, Of The Trees, Liquid Stranger, Polish Ambassador, and Clozee

In addition to a stacked lineup spanning multiple genres and vibes, there are plenty of other special activities at Hulaween. The festival grounds are full of art installations, interactive experiences, creative theme camps, aerial and fire performances, workshops, and permaculture activities. The park even has a Bat House where you can witness the mass entrance or exit of one of the largest bat colonies in Florida – estimated 75,000 – both at dusk and dawn every day. You can also have some fun in the water by reserving a group canoe float down the Suwannee River!

If you want to have a Halloween experience this year like no other, a limited number of 3 and 4 day passes are still available on their website. We recommend acting fast – last year sold out! Primitive camping is included in the GA pass cost, or you can purchase an upgrade for car camping ($100) or RV pass ($210). So grab your tickets, get your best costumes together, and make those last-minute travel arrangements.

If you’re still on the fence, check out the official 2022 hype video for this year’s Hulaween below!

We’ll see all you Hulagans out there.

Note: As with any festival, be sure you know the rules before going. Suwannee’s rules are pretty similar to most big festivals like this – they include restrictions on what you can bring into the actual venue (the stages are separate from the camping areas) including clear backpacks only except for smaller bags, water containers must be empty, and no other outside food/drinks allowed in the festival grounds. Be careful and keep in mind the laws in Florida too – recreational marijuana is not only illegal but also not even decriminalized, meaning you can get in big trouble for possessing small amounts.
