Primavera Sound Makes Its’ Los Angeles Debut: 5 Bands We Can’t Wait To See

Any music lover will have heard of Primavera Sound in Barcelona, one of the worlds’ largest festivals presenting dreamy, top tier lineups since its inception in 2001. Selecting artists from limitless genres that span every level between mainstream and underground, there is a reason the festival has garnered a well-deserved devout following. And it’s more than music fans praising the event – upon reflecting on Primavera’s ability to curate legendary experiences (such as Radiohead having their first live appearance in over 5 years, or when The Avalanches made their comeback following a 15 year hiatus), one has to assume that the folks behind this gathering aren’t simply good at what they do – they’re the best.

In 2012, Primavera began a slow rise of expansion with its second installment taking place in Portugal. In celebration of their 20th anniversary in 2022, the festival is hitting full acceleration by unveiling four new additions in Chile, Buenos Aires, São Paulo and Los Angeles! This epic announcement is the ultimate silver lining for festival goers around the world, offering a much needed opportunity to swoon for cooler days ahead.

We are particularly excited about the first ever US edition of Primavera Sound. Familiarize yourself with five of our favorite artists that are kicking ass and taking names in the City of Angels in just a few short months. Passes are still available – join us from September 16th to 18th at the LA Historic Park for a weekend you won’t soon forget.

AceMoMA – This New York electronic duo has been causing a ruckus through the pandemic, serving up delectable doses of the experimental, bounce-house energy we’ve needed to preserve through these unprecedented times. AceMoMa will be taking the stage at Primavera on Friday, September 16th.

Amyl and the Sniffers – Australian punk rock outfit Amyl and the Sniffers are tuned to be the next big thing. Riding high as they steadily make their addictive sound known, Primavera will kick off only their second run of US dates, so it’s sure to be one for the books. Show some love and ride the rail during their set on Sunday, September 18th.

Special Interest – Special Interest are an explosive four-piece from New Orleans composing punk, psychowave and electronic arrangements that will constantly have you wondering what could possibly be next. Special Interest are also playing at The Echo on September 13th as part of Primavera’s venue takeover, Primavera in the City. Wear your dancing shoes and meet us as the pre-show or at the fest on Saturday, September 17th.

PinkPantheress – Ushering in a new generation of drum n bass and UK garage, PinkPantheress has rocketed to center stage since posting a series of clips of her original productions to TikTok. The young UK artist has now hit millions of streams and collaborated with long revered artists such as GoldLink, Mura Masa and Kaytranada. Simply put, she’s here to stay. Charm your senses to PinkPantheress at Primavera on Friday, September 16th.

Arctic Monkeys – If the early Arctic Monkeys albums still have a soft spot in your heart like mine, there won’t be much convincing needed to make your way to their first US concert since 2018. Say less – it’s a date! We’ll be living our pre-teen dreams and singing along (badly) during their set on Sunday, September 18th.

If you aren’t scrambling to plan your ‘can’t miss’ sets and booking your flights to Los Angeles, take a look at the rest of the stacked Primavera lineup before you dive in. Lorde, Nine Inch Nails, Khruangbin, James Blake, Tierra Whack and so many more make this the destination festival of the year. Turn it into an extended trip by coming out for the complete Primavera festivities – Primavera in the City runs from September 13 – 20 and will feature venue performances by several artists from the weekend lineup.
