When the seasons start changing from snowy to sunny Red Rocks season begins to heat up. New-age livetronica quintet Papadosio make a stop at the historic amphitheater on May 6th armed with an eclectic array of musical and artistic support.
After crushing their first ever headlining Red Rocks appearance last year, Papadosio returns with Supersillyus, Sunsquabi, Desert Dwellers opening and An-Ten-Nae & Eliot Lipp filling in the set break cracks. The music will be a constant flow throughout the day into the evening that will feature live painting from Alex and Allyson Grey and visuals from Johnathan Singer in a consciously immersive night aptly named Re:Creation.
The stop on the Rocks comes at the tail end of an extensive Winter and Spring tour behind the Papadosio’s latest analog infused EP “Pattern Integrities”. As the band looks to recreate the magic of last year’s Red Rocks event, expect an emotional and evoking career spanning set from the Ohio rockers. As Papadosio looks to bring the energy for a refreshing evening in the mountains before kicking off festival season, they will be backed by a strong collection of opening acts.
Organic bass duo Desert Dwellers has been pushing the meaning of what a live show can become. Lately they have been incorporating aerial gymnastics, fire spinning and flow artists more frequently into their productions. Since joining forces, Amani Friend and Trevor Moontribe have pioneered the downtempo, psy-bass, and tribal trance genres which makes every set a prolific journey through sound and space.
Colorado-based power trio Sunsquabi has been on a tear the last couple years. Skyrocketing upward with their brand of Rocktronica. Sunsquabi always brings the groovy, funk infused jams. Re:Creation will be a hometown throwdown for the group so be sure to get there early to see the boys shred the sunset.
They also just dropped a funky fresh new single, featuring saxophonist Nicholas Gerlach!
Opening the night will be another Colorado native Supersillyus. Containing a specialty in intense and complex layered soundscapes, Supersillyus promises to be a brain-teasing opener. Influences ranging from Sphongle, Tipper and Ott, the psychedelic synth and unique expression is true ear candy.
As unique musical talent fills the airwaves, top visual artists will be filling the canvas. A very special appearance by pioneering psychedelic painters Alex and Allyon Grey will be on display throughout the day. While Alex and Allyson work the painters’ canvas, the talented visual artist Johnathan Singer will be providing eye-melting projections during performances for a fully immersive experience.
