The Last Waltz 40 Tour Comes to Texas with Spring Dates [Event Preview]

After a successful set of shows on the road, additional dates have been added for The Last Waltz 40 Tour – and they include four dates in Texas: March 30 in Dallas, March 31 in Houston, April 1 in Austin and April 2 in San Antonio.

It has been decades since The Band have taken their final bows, but after a pair concerts in New Orleans last year to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the momentous concert event, captured and immortalized in Martin Scorsese’s film The Last Waltz, Gov’t Mule’s Warren Haynes and Blue Note president Don Was decided to take Last Waltz 40 on the road.

“When we did it in New Orleans, it was so much fun. We were able to honor what came before and still come up with a different take on the original with a very unique blend of musical personalities,” Haynes told Rolling Stone in an interview last year.

For the Texas dates, you will find Haynes and Was joined by country singer Jamey Johnson as well as a cast of New Orleans royalty – The Meters’ Cyril Neville, The Radiators’ Dave Malone, and the one and only Dr. John. Drummer Terence Higgins will lend his support, and the horn section, headed by Mark Mullins, will be playing Allen Toussaint’s original arrangements featured in the film.

Such a stellar lineup of personnel demands attention. Seeing as this is a special anniversary event, it is highly unlikely to happen again. Take advantage of the tour extension and check it out! Tickets start around $65 a pop – you can find them here.
