Now entering its 17th year, Shambhala Music Festival has kept its humbling vibe since its very first party in 1998, where 500 people gathered to celebrate life, music and art. Every year this gorgeous farm makes way for one of the best underground dance parties of the year.
A ticket to this completely grassroots festival (no corporate sponsors whatsoever) gets you 6 full days along the beautiful Salmo River in British Columbia, as well as the most tantalizing lineup we’ve seen all year.
Given that the Salmo Creek Ranch is a fully functioning farm from September to July, Shambhala provides their very own organic and local produce. Even the newest of campers can appreciate this effort more than anyone, which makes it one of the top reasons this festival is our number one go-to.
Not only is Shambhala dedicated to providing the best venue of any festival we’ve been to in years past, but they take it to another level by creating some of the most intricate stages you’ve ever laid eyes on. Each stage is individually operated by a different production company, giving a truly unique look of all six stages. Given the private ownership of the land, these stages, unlike nearly all other music festivals, are given more than a few weeks to be constructed. This results in beyond perfectly designed structures each year. We can’t wait to immerse ourselves in the midst of all the beauty and wonder that Shambhala holds!
