Louisiana Strong: The Fight Goes On

Though it’s been nearly three months since catastrophic floods hit the region of Livingston Parish, Louisiana, it seems as though it were just yesterday that the news hit communities across the nation like a bomb. Through relief efforts such as Louisiana Strong, there have been countless ways for fellow music lovers to donate to the tragedy, and it still isn’t too late to make a real difference for thousands of lives affected by disaster. Currently, all donations to Louisiana Strong, regardless of the amount, will be entered to win two epic opportunities, and we have all the details. Read on for more about Louisiana Strong and how you can join the relief effort.

“For years, I’ve worked with Brandon Deroache on a variety of music for relief campaigns… everything from Download to Donate for Haiti with the Glitch Mob and Causecast sessions with Bassnectar. I never thought I would be organizing a relief campaign for my own home town. Within a few days of the flood, I called Brandon (now with Propeller.La) and he hit the ground running to help set up one of the largest campaigns I’ve ever worked on. In less than 2 weeks, more than 25 artists were on board with teams from Deckstar, OWSLA, AEG, C3, Royal Potato Family, Silverback, Keller Williams, Sony ATV, and Universal all working to put together anything we could to help. I’m in awe of what this industry can accomplish when we all work together. The people of Louisiana were strong in organizing themselves in record time to get through the worst part of the flood. I’m proud to be born and raised in the South and even prouder to see the industry I belong to match that spirit when it comes to organizing relief to help others.”

– Daysha Taylor of I Dreamt Last Night and Louisiana Strong

We told you it’d be epic!

‘Bourbon Street’ was inspired by Katrina; we were so taken aback by the compassion and generosity of the citizens of Louisiana and the affected areas that we needed to express it musically. To see a similar disaster play out for a second time was both heartbreaking and surreal. We’re so proud to see the music go toward promoting assistance for those affected.’ – Steve Widmer of Moondog Matinee
