[Show Review] Andy C gives Denver a lesson in Drum n Bass | Beta Nightclub March 11th, 2016

March 11th marked my first experience at Beta Nightclub, one of Denver’s more trendy venue spaces, and it was all in the name of Drum n Bass’s most prolific producer in the world: Andy C. Opening up the night were Sureshot, an up and coming producer from Denver who demonstrated a keen preference on breakbeats, and DJ Fury, someone I’ve admired and had looked forward to seeing for a while. I was surprised to find that he also lived in Denver, and am stoked on being able to catch both of these artists upcoming residency sets.

Beta proved to be the perfectly intimate space for The Executioner to bring his heavy reckoning of dark drum n bass, and the swarming packed out dance floor was the only evidence you needed. Playing throw classic bangers like ‘Planet Dust’ and ‘Messiah’, it was a bass heavy dream that had the entire crowd going bonkers. Though Andy C’s popularity has mostly remained underground or across the pond for most, it felt refreshing to see the younger crowd getting a lesson in the old school from the master himself! I even recall hearing a few Chase & Status drops, which had me reminiscing to the first time I’d ever experienced DnB.

Rattling the walls with Beta’s incredible Funktion One sound set up, it was a night of high-adrenaline pumping bass. Joined by MC legend Armani Reignn, it was a performance that could put any dedicated DnB lover on cloud 9. The vinyl purist took Denver by storm, and we’re counting the days until he blesses CO once more.
