Beats Antique is a musical outfit like you’ve never experienced. Seamlessly blending genres from around the world, they’ve created their own unique fusion of gypsy-soul funk. Composed of drummer Tommy Cappell, violinist David Satori and belly dancer Zoe Jakes, the band is revered for their mind-blowing live performances. Lose yourself in their set at the Ballroom stage on the 2nd day of BUKU Festival.
“Our live show speaks louder than any of our albums. It gets really crazy at the end, pretty fun, crowd-surfing, animal masks and weirdness. I think it just adds to the overall vibe,” Zoe Jakes told CYM contributor Jacki Moon back in October of 2011.
While Beats Antique is notorious for their unique live performance of sensual belly dance, stunning theatrics and psychedelic projections, they have also produced a handful of high-quality albums. The trio’s latest release A Thousand Faces- Act 1 is a concept album that recreates the experience of a circus performance with their signature electro-gypsy sound.
