This February 21st through 23rd WinterWonderGrass returns to the majestic Steamboat Springs for its eighth year of “Music, Brews and Mountains”. A festival primarily bluegrass and folk based, country energy with an abundance of string instruments and soul will light up the peaceful snowy valley this February. This years’ lineup boasts bluegrass legends such as Greensky Bluegrass, the Travelin’ McCourys, Billy Strings, Margo Price, Horseshoes and Handgrenades, Keller and the Keels, Pickin’ on the Dead, and Lindsay Lou.
Now with sister festivals in Vermont and California, WinterWonderGrass is a homegrown Colorado fest rooted in Edwards. The same people that gift us with WinterWondergrass are also behind the summertime gathering Campout for the Cause. In true form to the compassionate and community-driven culture of WinterWonderGrass, $1 of each ticket purchase is donated to the local non-profit of the patron’s choice, and $10 of the ticket price of the Mountain Top Dinner event is donated to the non-profit Protect our Winters, “the leading climate advocacy group for the winter sports community”.
From the website,
“We aim to cultivate and nurture the relationship between nature, authentic music, and communal family, creating a vehicle for inspiration. When we come together with open hearts and open minds, bringing all of our differences and unique opinions, we begin to dissolve the illusion of separation from one another. Our intention is to create a platform for artists, vendors, attendees, and our planet to unite as one – connecting the tribe.”
And what’s a true high-altitude Colorado ski festival without some tasty mountain brews? With more than twenty Colorado craft breweries participating, a taste to fit any beer drinker’s palette is guaranteed.
Tickets cost $209 for General Admission 3 Day Pass, and kids twelve years old and younger are free. Limited Single day and VIP ticket options are available as well. Also available are tickets for the exclusive and intimate Mountain Top Dinner package, which includes a delicious meal, gondola ride, and two sets by the man himself, Keller Williams. Free music at Gondola Square will also pop off on Thursday night for those of us trying to kick off the weekend early.
The 2020 edition of WinterWonderGrass is sure to transform the sleepy, historic ski town of Steamboat Springs into a three-day party – full of craft beer, community, and bluegrass jams, with over twenty artists scheduled to play across four stages. While three stages are indoors, I’m looking forward to stompin’ and hollerin’ under snowfall to some of the best bluegrass Colorado and beyond has to offer.
