Mountains, Jazz and Casino Slots: The resurgence of Central Jazz | June 9th, 2018

Colorado’s massive music scene just got hit with a healthy dose of New Orleans flavor in the form of Central Jazz! As the revival of the original Central City Jazz Festival, which ran from 1976 to 1992, we’re excited to experience the festival firsthand in this beautiful casino mountain town. Akin to the spontaneity of Jazz Fest in New Orleans, there will be street performances, late night parties and all-star superjams galore, making this an epic night of musical proportions.

With its staggering lineup, a name that truly sealed the deal for us was the Adam Deitch Jazz Quartet, who is one of our most looked forward to acts. When asked about the Colorado debut going down at Central Jazz, Adam had this to say:

“I’m bringing my jazz-ish quartet featuring organ wizard from the Bay Area, Wil Blades, Sax chef Ryan Zoidis (Soulive, Lettuce) and trumpet virtuoso and comedian Eric Benny Bloom. I wrote the songs on our new album “Egyptian Secrets” (not yet released) to bring some warmth, depth and substance to our scene.  Everything isn’t always a turn up dance party. This band should provide some balance to those in our scene that only go to shows that are huge bombastic displays of powerful sound and lights. Sometimes it’s necessary to go hear jazz and just sit, think and enjoy. This band is a reminder of how important that is.”

Live music will take place at various bars and venues, ensuring you get tons of time to check out the historical vibe of the city, too. It also goes without saying that Central City is home to a handful of high-scale casinos, and Black Hawk is only a mile down the road. Don’t forget to plan accordingly by making time for music and the slots! Grab tickets before they go up.
