12 Reasons for 12 Days until Hillberry Festival: Everything you need & want to know! [Event Preview]

From the prime location on The Farm in the rolling Ozarks of Eureka Springs, to the intimately sized crowd of a few thousand loving souls, to the incomparable music bill stacked with two nights of (festival sponsors) Railroad Earth, to the handpicked vendors and artists and to most importantly, the magnitude of hard work and intention placed in creating every detail of Hillberry Harvest Moon Festival, Deadhead Productions is doing it right and we sure cannot wait to be back among the love and light Hillberry brings. Check out our review and pictures from last year’s Hillberry to get you even more excited for the epicness that is about to ensue in just TWELVE DAYS!

The Farm

There is something truly special about the space dubbed The Farm in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Surrounded by the rolling Ozarks nestled in the beauty of Eureka Springs and breathtaking nature, The Farm might be one of the most gorgeous festival venues around. The camping is plentiful and campers can choose to either be tucked away in the trees or out in the field with friends.

The Phamily

The people who help produce Hillberry are sure something spectacular and we are always grateful for the thoughtfulness and intention Deadhead Productions and Railroad Earth put into making Hillberry the best it can be. The smaller crowd allows attendees to truly get to know their fellow Hillberrians and that is something we truly treasure in the festival scene these days. Hugs, bubbles and smiles for miles!

The Lineup

As if it needs to be said, Hillberry Festival boasts one of the most incredible Bluegrass, Folk, Americana and Rock lineups out there. Take a look for yourself…every single artist booked to play is amazingly talented and brings something unique to the table. We cannot wait to get down on the dance floor with you and kick some dust!

Late Night Campfire Sets

One of our favorite parts of Hillberry is the late night campfire jams. Acoustic sets, a bonfire and a cold libation in your hand is the perfect nightcap for long days of dancing and playing! This year’s late night sets include Opal Agafia & The Sweet Nothings, Arkansauce & Julian Davis & The Hay-Burners.

Chompdown

Saturday morning at 9 A.M. means CHOMPDOWN! Chompdown is a communal breakfast founded by prominent Midwest festivalers with help from the band Dirtfoot in 2007 at Wakarusa. With help from lots of other amazing individuals who work their butts off to organize, cook, clean and feed the hungry, sleep deprived masses who want to chomp it down while gettin’ down. Chompdown takes the morning meal to a whole ‘nother level and the sheer love and hard work exerted to provide a warm and entertaining meal reminds us all why we do what we do. Here is what you can do for Chompdown (taken from the Hillberry Facebook Page):

-BACON!

-EGGS (we always run out of eggs first)

-taters (chopped, tots, hashbrowns, whatever – pref. not still-skinned and dirty)

-breakfast meat (must be sealed – for everyone’s own safety, we cannot use meat that has not been factory sealed.)

-bread/butter

-pam spray

-fruit (chopped or whole)

-pastries, muffins, homemade breads

-veggies (onions, peppers or anything else that goes with eggs =)

-cheese

-grits

-tortillas

-pancake mix

-salsa

-Peanut Butter and Jelly

-BRING YOUR FAVORITE DISH! (if you have something that’s THE BOMB, bring lots and make it!)

Don’t be shy…bring your table and stove and we’ll find a spot for you! We’ll need a dishwashing station, fruit cutting station and lots and lots of bacon frying action! We LOVE new faces and hungry bellies!

If you haven’t experienced the Gnome approved pumpkin pancakes…you’re in for a treat!!

  1. Great article, very well written! Looking forward to the festival. I’m going to wear my overalls and straw hat all weekend long while stomping my foot to some fine string dusting and picking

  2. What about the big jam Thursday night? Backing band Red Oak Ruse and its frontman Michael Schembre (formerly of Mountain Sprout and several other acts) are hosting the jam with Foleys Van’s Allen’s Swearingen… with many special guests including at least 15 musicians from nearly ten bands, late night in the tent after Horseshoes and Hand Grenades! Hope to see you all there!! Here’s a link for more details on the jam! Will be epic https://shindigmusic.net/epic-jam-lifetime-lineup-15-regional-musicians-unveiled-oct-12-dubbed-shindigmusic-hillberry-harvest-orchestra/
