For two hell-raising days this fall, Texas brings back one of its loudest and fiercest festivals for all rock and heavy metal fans alike. Houston Open Air takes over the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion this October 14th and 15th, headlining with rock super groups: Five Finger Death Punch, Stone Sour, Mastodon, and Marilyn Manson.
The spectrum of various rock performances for this year’s festival easily rivals those from years prior. Boasting frontrunners among groove, progressive, and thrash metal, Open Air is making noise to satiate metal enthusiasts of virtually every side of the scene.
Of even stronger anticipation for fans is the long awaited return of Five Finger Death Punch’s frontman, who recently issued an apology for his abrupt leave to enroll himself into rehabilitation. After having to hire a temporary lead singer and delaying their latest album, 5FDP fans are more than ready to welcome back these heavy metal titans soon.
With brand new, faster material coming from Of Mice and Men and glam gods Steel Panther making their unique dent upon the metal scene, festival goers may not just be hit with flailing mosh punches but by the soul-crushing, ear-splitting sounds of a fierce metal lineup.
