Funky Fun in the Florida Sun at Fool’s Paradise: All the info to know about Lettuce’s Second Fest [Event Preview]

Fools Paradise is returning for the second year in a row to St. Augustine Amphitheatre March 31st and April 1st. This event is brought to you by the funkiest fools around Lettuce, Purple Hat Productions, Live for Live Music, and Silver Wrapper. The performing arts venue is located in the amazing 16-acre section of Anastasia State Park. Over April Fool’s Weekend, people from all over will descend upon St. Augustine, one of America’s oldest cities where fans can take full advantage of it’s 42 mile span of beautiful beaches and indulge in an endless amount of fun and feasting on the water. Aside from St. Augustine’s every day attractions, Fools Paradise will be offering an assortment of fantastic excursions intended to bring fans closer to their favorite artists.

At noon, fans can look forward to a relaxing 2-hour adventure at sea on the Schooner Freedom Charters, soaking up the sun along side The Shady Horns (Eric ‘Benny’ Bloom and Ryan Zoidis of Lettuce). Following at 1:00 P.M., you can go hole for hole with Jesus Coomes of Lettuce, Antwaun Stanley of Vulfpeck, and Lyle Divinsky from The Motet in a game of Putt-Putt golf. If you aren’t up to par with your Putt-Putt, Adam Deitch of Lettuce and Break Science and Adam Smirnoff of Lettuce will be taking worthy challengers on the Ping-Pong table at Elk’s Lodge at 1:00 P.M. These excursions, as well as the beautiful sights from the sunken pirate ship and beautiful ocean and waterfall scenery, are bound to make for a legendary weekend that we are beyond excited to be a part of. If excursions are not your preference, you can head over to the Elk’s Lodge for more great vibes and jams starting with Ajeva at 1:00 P.M., and bringing you The Groove Orient at 2:00 P.M., and to close out at 3:00 P.M., Ben Stroke & The Full Electric before the main festivities take place on the main stage at the Amphitheater.

Fool’s Paradise is bringing some extraordinarily talented artists to the sunshine state. I am looking forward to working along with Photographer Nick Bogannam during this funk-fueled weekend. Fools Paradise starts the first day off with Organ Freeman, a L.A. trio, featuring Erik Carlson, Rob Humphreys, and Trevor Steer who play a blend of soulful and instrumental jazz from 3:30-4:30 P.M. If you are a fan of EDM then you do not want to miss Manic Science, a is collaboration between Manic Focus (John Mcarten) and Break Science (Adam Deitch and Borahm Lee). bringing you a blend of bass, breakbeats, jazz, and hiphop. If this doesn’t excite you enough then come kick off the first night with Lettuce at 6:30-8:00 P.M. who bring a new, classic funk/hip hop inspired soulful and funky groove from the talented Adam Deitch, Adam Smirnoff, Eric Krasno, and Jesus Coomes. Closing the night on March 31st, come enjoy a fresh-new take on a Grateful Dead tribute band, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead. They bring the raw energy of the dead and push this ensemble over the top with music quality. With Oteil Burbridge and Antwuan Stanley as Artists at Large, who knows what kind of jams will take place over the weekend, especially since we just saw Oteil step in with Joe Russo’s Almost Dead as their bassist for a whole night very recently…

If you missed anything the first night then do not worry, because April 1st at Fool’s is bringing the heat with a great, dynamic 5-piece soulful electrifying rock and roll band, The Main Squeeze (Go seem them!), to start the day off from 3:45 to 4:45 P.M. You don not want to miss what’s next with The Motet from 5:15-6:15 P.M, an American funk, afrobeat and jazz influenced groove band that brings the funk to a whole another level. The Floozies, following right after from 6:45-8:00 P.M. will be an unforgettable set due to their high intensity digital-aged funk and groovy bass beats and their ability to move dance floors like never before. Lettuce will closes out the second night from 8:30-10:15 p.m., with what we are expecting to be one of the funkiest sets of the year that will bring the energy and vibes to the crowd that only the best festivals in the world are able to reach. When the music ends at the Amphitheatre on the first night, everyone can head over to the Elk’s Lodge with their afterparty ticket where there will be late night sets by Jaw Gems, Eric Krasno Band, and the Infinity Jam. The second night will consist of Dumstaphunk and the Fools For Funk featuring members from Lettuce and Dumstaphunk. This is going to be the second straight funkiest weekend of the year and you do not want to miss it. We cannot wait to see everyone’s beautiful faces there and to enjoy the wonderful beach vibes along side everyone’s favorite artists. THE FUNK DON’T STOP AT FOOL’S PARADISE!
