As if three nights of String Cheese Incident (find details here) was just not enough, Austin will also be hosting Grateful Dead godfather Bob Weir for two nights at The Moody Theatre that same weekend – from April 15 to April 16. The Austin dates are additions to Weir’s Campfire Tour, in support of his new solo album Blue Mountain. Described by Weir as a collection of “cowboy songs,” Blue Mountain is Weir’s first all-original solo effort in decades.
The Campfire Band he put together for the tour is comprised of players featured on the album. Among them are Aaron Dessner and Bryan and Scott Devendorf of The National, as well as long-time Dead collaborator Steve Kimock. Tickets recently went on sale, so get them here while you still can. Each ticket order comes with a copy of the Blue Mountain album. I love extra goodies, don’t you? See you in Austin!
