[Festival Review] Contour Music Festival 2015: A Beacon Of Hope For Jackson

The magic behind a first year festival is something that cannot be explained – like festie founding fathers, there’s an urge to explore and embrace the musical wilderness. When we first caught wind of Contour Music Festival taking place at one of the greatest skiing resorts in North America, we knew we had to be apart of this inaugural celebration. Tempted by artists such as Thievery Corporation, Moon Taxi and Charles Bradley & The Extraordinaires, Contour sealed the deal with it’s location right in the heart of Jackson.

Throw in some off-the-wall late night parties hosted by the best venues in town, and we were floating on a cloud made of Contour! Our favorite of these was easily the Pink Garter, with its intimate club setting upstairs and a spacious downstairs theater. Here we saw packed out performances by headliners G Jones, Papadosio, and Deltron 3030.

Offering up vendors from local pizza parlor Pinky G’s to Teton Gravity Research, there was a nice simplicity to Contour that was uniquely Jackson: talking to locals throughout the weekend, I realized that the festival was, indeed, a family affair. From the friendly ski lift operators at Snow King to the hilariously awesome staff at Lotus Cafe who dealt with our morning after shenanigans, it was a weekend of incredible music, homegrown vibes and eye dropping views.

Oh, and riding the ski lift up and down Snow King was easily a highlight from our trip – with the magnificent view of Contour just down below, it was hard not to fall in love with Jackson!

Here on out, you can expect us to be in full effect at every Contour from now on – there’s no way you can beat the friendly vibes, community feel and awesome music this festival brings to Jackson. Thank you endlessly to the team that brought us out, and we can’t wait to see you all again next year!
