This week’s #WomanCrushWednesday goes out to Chloé Herry also known as CloZee. CloZee is an international artist hailing from Toulouse, France. This female producer is the ripe age of 21, and is taking the glitch-hop scene by storm. CloZee has announced performances at two festivals thus far in the United States: Serenity Gathering, and Sonic Bloom. Her complex style is mixed with melodic harmonies that bring her music to life. The rhythm of CloZee’s technical beats holds a sense of depth, and emotion. The beauty of her music seems to lie within the intricate details of the sounds that CloZee creates. Her funky and glitchy beats are sure to keep the dance floor vibes grooving all night long. CloZee recently was given the honor to open for the glitch master himself Dave Tipper in Chicago at the Portage Theater. While she has noted Bonobo as a major influence to her music as well as edIT, her glitch-hop based style calls to mind many other influences and sounds. CloZee’s music cannot be defined by just one category.
Her EP Inner Peace features sounds and instruments from all over the world. Every song on the album was inspired by artist Lulu Swallow. The complex beats in the first track of Inner Peace sound very tribal until she breaks it down into a super funky dance beat. The whole EP is on point. Her track Erase the Borders holds true to her glitch-hop style while bringing in harmonic vocals that add depth to her sound. She concludes the EP with Symfonia, where she combines crunchy glitchy beats while texturing in sounds and instruments to create a truly unique sounding compilation. CloZee used the inspiration from this piece to mix several different genres in the tracks on this album to bring the artwork to life with sound.
